Mike Purol of Irondequoit, NY on July 04, 2017 at age 72.  Passed away suddenly at St. Ann's Rehab and Transitional Care Center from a pulmonary embolism, two months after successful cancer surgery.

Mike was a modest man who loved his blended family.  He is survived by his best friend and wife of 38 years, Barbara (Muldoon) Purol; children: Darlene Purol Bridson (Fairport, NY), LIsa Purol (Eric) Hoffman (Littleton, CO), David (Jackie) Gentner (Brighton & Mt. Vernon, NY) and Emily Gentner (Irondequoit, NY).  He was predecesed by his son, William (Bill) Purol who passed away in 2011.  He was "Poppy" to his 8 grandchildren: Joshua, Erica, Summer, Nicholas, Michael, Alex, Heather and Hannah.   3 great grandchildren: Skylar, Raina and Madelyn.

Born in Toledo, Ohio to Valentine (Bill) Purol and Hedwig Przeslawski, he graduated from Central Catholic High School with honors and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Toledo.  After college, Eastman Kodak recruited him to work in their film labs where over the next thirty years as a Chemical Engineer developed several patents for the company.  He also completed a number of courses in the Applied Statistics program at RIT.  Later in his career he was fortunate to travel in both U.S. , the United Kingdom and Brazil where he presented new product developments. When he was offered early retirement from Kodak he became a tax professional for H & R Block for the next sixteen years.

He enjoyed family life, traveling, the cottage at Seneca Lake, playing golf, watching sports, card games (especially bridge), chess, the daily NY Times crossword puzzle, a home cooked meal, his fireplace on winter nights, his euchre party group and his friends at the Summerville Social Club.   He had a keen interest in current events and liked participating in political discussions.  Mike also loved animals including his cats Molly and Robby.  He had a strong sense of ethics, a good heart and a belief of fairness to all.  He will be truly missed.
