Anthony Joseph “Tony” Callari, 90, of Rochester, NY passed away peacefully Friday morning, March 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Anthony was born December 21, 1934 in Rochester, the son of the late Samuel and Cecilia Callari. He was a 1953 graduate of East High School, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing at St. John Fisher University. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was honored to represent the Marines on the baseball field in Okinawa, Japan.
After college, Tony embarked on his career path where he was instrumental in the development and success of many businesses, including Pillsbury, Ragu, and Cantisano Foods. He served as the VP of Sales & Marketing for Cantisano Foods for over 20 years. After retiring in 1995, Tony started his own consulting firm and continued working for another 10 years.
Tony married his wife, Marge, in 1966. They brought two beautiful children into this world and by far the greatest accomplishment in his life are Kristen and Marc as well as his six grandchildren. Tony was a proud husband, father, and grandfather “Papa” and took great joy in the accomplishments of those he loved. He was a genuine, generous and all-around family man, and his greatest joy were gatherings and celebrations where he looked forward to spending time with his family. He attended as many of his grandchildren’s sporting, dance, and school events as he possibly could and the memories he made with them will live in their hearts forever. Tony enjoyed traveling to destinations all over the world with his wife, playing golf, and monthly luncheons with friends.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margit (Berg) Callari; children, Kristen Cieslinski (Brian) & Marc Callari (Kelly); grandchildren, Kiara, Alexandra, Caitlin, Jordan, McKenna & Justin. He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank & Bobby, and sister Debi; and is survived by his brother Ron Callari (Meg) as well as several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the nurses and aides who cared for Tony in his final stages of life.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at White Haven Memorial Park, Creation Chapel, 210 Marsh Road, Pittsford, NY. 14534. The family will receive relatives and friends immediately following at the All Seasons Gathering Room.
