DANIEL RIEBEN Obituary

Daniel S. Rieben of Whitesboro,  New York on December 05, 2020, A loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away at age 81.

Daniel (Dan) was born on June 17, 1939 in Utica, NY to Lawrence & Sarah (Brewster) Rieben.

Dan began roofing with his father Lawrence Rieben at a young age.  In 1961, Lawrence Rieben & Sons, Inc. was established with his brothers Kenneth Rieben and Lawrence S. Rieben.  He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #58.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 - 1965.  On July16, 1966, he married Jane Clara Haynes.  They raised two children, Pamela and Daniel.

Dan had a passion for construction and was very handy.  He enjoyed spending time at their family camp in Otter Lake, where he was always working on a new project.  In his younger years, he was an avid water skier and he enjoyed teaching his children, nieces, nephews and friends how to water ski.  His patience, tenacity and humor made him a person who everyone loved.

He is survived by his beloved wife Jane Rieben of Fairport, NY; his two children, Pamela  (Brian)  Facklam of Fairport, NY and Daniel (Ann) Rieben of Clinton, NY,  his brother Kenneth  Rieben of Oriskany, NY; sister , Marilyn Tine of Utica, NY. His grandchildren, Eva, Ivy, Brendan and Liam;  many loving in-laws and several nieces and nephews and cousins.  Dan was preceded in death by his father and mother Lawrence & Sarah; his sisters,  Ruth Courter and Gertrude Pollard and brother Lawrence S. Rieben.

The family would like to thank Brookdale Memory Care for all the love and kindness they have shown for Dan and continue to provide for all the residents in their care.  

A private service will be held on Saturday December 12, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Mountain Rise Church in Fairport.   A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.  Contributions in Dan's memory can be made to Alzheimer's Associations of Central New York. (441 W. Kirkpatrick St.  Syracuse, NY.  13204).
