Diane Salamone Obituary

Diane Hauck Salamone of Fairport, 85, passed away peacefully and in the presence of love on Friday, November 14, 2025, after a long and private journey with breast cancer.

She is predeceased by her father, Clarence (aka Tutor), mother, Mary and two brothers, Richard and Donald.  She is survived by her son Mark, daughter Julie (Max) Dunn, and son John (Jeannine) Salamone; two grandchildren Ethan Dunn (Ashley Hogan) and Loren (Andrew) Miller; five great-grandchildren Kileigh Hogan, Vivian Dunn, Lincoln Dunn, Rowan Miller, and Georgia Miller – each filling her heart with happiness; and her sister-in-law Margaret Hauck and her children James and Linda.

Diane grew up in the 19th Ward and retained close ties to the community she knew and loved, especially St. Monica’s Church. A 1958 graduate of St. Agnes High School, Diane enjoyed monthly breakfast outings with her classmates.

Over the course of her life, Diane worked at the Rochester Telephone Company, the American Cancer Society, Monroe Community College, and Martha Brown Middle School.  She also held various jobs in retail, sold real estate in Rochester for a decade, and was a home health aide helping individuals with daily tasks and chores.

Diane’s true passion was serving others through her volunteer work. She dedicated her time and heart to the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Motherhouse for many years and spent twelve summers supporting the Vacation Bible School at St. Monica’s Church – places where she found deep joy and tremendous purpose.

Diane also savored spending quality time with close friends and wonderful neighbors, reading a good book, quilting, watching golf, and driving to Virginia with her sweet dog Sophie to see her son and daughter-in-law. More recently, she loved visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina during Thanksgiving, enjoying long walks on the beach and taking time to appreciate the sand, surf, and seashells washed upon the shore.

Diane was always grateful for the years of wonderful care from Dr. Colin McHugh and his entire Interlakes Oncology team.  Diane’s family is eternally thankful for the wonderful and compassionate care of the entire staff and volunteers at the Webster Comfort Care Home.

Diane will always be remembered for her independence, strength, giving nature, and warm heart.  A Mass intention for Diane will be offered at St. Monica’s Church during the 4:00 pm services on Saturday, December 20.

Donations in Diane’s memory may be sent to the Webster Comfort Care Home, 700 Holt Road, Webster, NY 14580 or St Monica’s Catholic Church, 34 Monica Street, Rochester, NY 14619.

We fall. We break. We fail then we rise. We heal and we overcome.
