Spencer, Louise J. of Fairport, NY died peacefully on February 17, 2010 as she was surrounded by her loving family. She excelled for 35 years in the college and high school library service. She was a 1938 graduate of Winthrop College in South Carolina. In 1941 she received her Masters Degree in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was proud of a carer as a high school and college librarian in the states of NC, SC, KY, NY and CT. After retirement, she continued to work as a literacy volunteer. Mrs. Spencer's husband, Robert, a lifelong journalist, predeceased her in 1993. Her children, Ann ( Len ) Crick, Donna ( Don ) Lipari and William ( Pat ) Spencer survive her along with three grandchildren, Allison ( Brian ), Ryan, and Farrah ( Harris ). We will miss your bright smile and your calling heart. The love you gave us will be cherished forever.
Friends attended her Funeral Service on Saturday February 20th at 2:00 PM in the United Methodist Church, 31 West Church Street, Fairport, NY. Memorials were directed to: Literacy Volunteers of America. She was buried next to her husband in East Worchester, NY, where they resided for many years.
