Mark J. Priest

Mark J Priest, aged 73, died Tuesday, July 18 2023, at home surrounded by family. Mark was a resident of Fairport, NY, and was born in Saratoga on February 11 1950, son of the late James S and Eleanor M (Robinson) Priest. Mark was a member of Schuylerville High School, Class of 1970, and proudly served his country in 1971 when he joined the US Navy. He spent 25 years as a general agent for John Hancock. Mark had the magical ability to instill both a sense of authority and playful camaraderie that made him a formidable leader in his household and his professional journey. He made all feel welcome, seen, and lived in deep loyalty to those he loved. Hard work never intimidated him,but energized him. He lived with great presence and relished a great story or a salty joke, and sappy (lame) songs. Mark was always the life of the party and knew how to energize a room. He was curious about history and a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, often believing he could manage them better than the current coach. Mark dearly loved his ever accommodating wife and the family they created together, insisting on spoiling his grandkids with mindless tv and sweets, collecting memories and sports memorabilia with son Christopher, and enjoying time with his son Daniel over experiencing the finer things in life. Mark is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Priest, his sons Daniel (Paul) and Christopher (Rebecca); and his granddaughters Marleigh and Magan. He is also survived by his sisters Bonnie (Lou), Colleen (Bruce), and his brother Randy(Jenny), as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Melodie Haney and Robin Durham. Services will be held on August 5th, at 11:00AM, at Christ Church Pittsford, with a calling hour immediately preceding the service.
