Phyllis passed away peacefully on June 21st, 2024 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children Diana Doser (David), Phillip Ruffier (Terri) and Walter Ruffier (Robyn), eight beloved grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, her cousin Erma, many nieces, nephews and her dear friend, Cathy. Phyllis resided in Irondequoit for many years and was the "mayor" of Hurstbourne Rd., decorating the street for Christmas, attending many block parties and tending to her beautiful gardens. She most recently resided in Fairport.
Phyllis was born to immigrant parents on March 2nd, 1930. She was the youngest of 12 children of Domenico and Domenica Danesi of Italy. Phyllis was the first of her siblings to proudly graduate high school. She married her sweetheart, Robert Ruffier, on June 25th 1949 in Ohio. Together, Phyllis and Bob had 5 children. Phyllis is predeceased by her husband, Bob, and her daughters Roberta Ruffier and Kristine Woolery.
Phyllis will be remembered for her love of family, especially children, the joy she found in gardening, the wedding cakes she made to pay for her jewelry addiction, her quilting, her willingness to be adventurous in the kitchen and her home canned peaches.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the loving care that Phyllis received by the staff on East 5 and East 6 at Highland Hospital who made her last days peaceful. They would also like to thank those that provided compassionate personal and clinical care over the past several years.
A celebration of her life will be held Monday, June 24th from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home, 76 S. Main St., Fairport. Funeral mass will be Tuesday, June 25th at 11am at St. John of Rochester Church, 8 Wickford Way, Fairport, followed by a private burial at White Haven Memorial Park.
