Theodore ( Ted ) Cobb was born on March 03, 1945 in Rochester, NY and died suddenly on April 11, 2015.
Ted brought light into the world with his spontaneity and love of life. He grew up in Fairport, NY and participated in sports, theater productions and Boy Scouts. He was an Eagle Scout and devoted to his community.
In 1963, Ted met Barbara A. Veillard in their HS musical and in 1964 they wed. They grew their life together in Fairport, NY where Ted was a teacher at Northside Elementary School for 30 years. He was a born teacher: curious, encouraging, nuturing, challenging and devoted to his students. He coached swimming, football and lacrosse. He loved his students and was always eager to hear about their lives after leaving his classroom.
For over 35 years, Fairport was their home and community. Ted and Barb rasied two biological children, nine adopted children and many foster children. Life with Ted was never dull. In 2003, they moved to Potsdam, NY to be closer to family. They spent summers, and after retirement, much of their time, at their cottage on Sand Lake in Elgin, Ontario, Canada. Ted developed many friendships through their involvement with the Taoist Tai Chi Society, Kingston, Ontario Branch. He was a beginning instructor in Tai Chi branches including those in Brockville, Portland, Perth, Westport and Kingston.
Barbara died in 2010, Ted embarked on a cross-country trip to visit and nuture family. Upon his return, he became more involved in Taoist Tai Chi, where he met Patrice Dwyer and in 2012, they wed.
Ted and Patrice shared a short but joyful life together in Mallorytown, Ontario, Canada. He and Patrice spent many hours driving in Ted's shiny red convertible and exploring the St. Lawrence River on their pontoon boat. Ted's circle of friends grew in every community in which he lived.
Life for Ted was about sharing love and laughter; his generosity made any sorrow turn into joy and peace. He was an exceptional man and he will be deeply missed by his wife, Patrice, many grown children, grandchildren, siblings, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 17, 2015 from 4-7PM at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday April 18th at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Ressurection, 63 Mason Road Fairport, NY.
