Terrie E. Sleeman

Terrie (Craig) Sleeman, age 75, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 9, after a long illness with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Lex Sleeman, two sons, Ethan (Amy), Craig (Jessica Yager), and grandchildren, Fischer and Annie. Also survived by her brother Dan (Julie) Craig, nieces, Jenny Craig, Kelly Craig, and nephew Andy Craig, sisters Cherrie Love, Annette Bernstein and Connie Lewis.  Pre-deceased her parents, Charles and JoAnne Craig and her brother, John Craig.

Terrie was born in Creston, Iowa and attended college at Iowa State University where she earned her degree in Home and Career Education.  She moved to Fairport in 1971 and earned her Masters Degree in Spanish at Nazareth College.  Terrie spent over 30 years as a Home and Careers teacher in the Fairport School District, and part time in the Victor Schools for 3 years.

Terrie loved to bike and traveled through Europe, South America, Scandinavia, and the East and West Coast of both US and Canada while experiencing different culture and cuisine.  She enjoyed working out at the YMCA and attending numerous classes with all of her fitness friends.  Terrie looked forward to her “grammie days” with her grandchildren teaching them to swim, cook, hike, bike, and explore the outdoors.   

A memorial service will be held on June 22, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Fairport at 5:00 PM.  All are invited join the family after the service for a reception.  To Live Stream:  fairportumc.org

A Celebration of Life is being planned for later in the summer. More information on that to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to “Terrie Bikes” will be used to purchase a bicycle for a deserving child, so that Terrie’s love of biking will carry on. Donations can be sent to:
