William Hemiup Obituary

William James Hemiup.  September 1, 1924 - February 03, 2021.

Bill, age 96, formerly of Webster, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021. He was born in Geneva NY to James and Eva Hemiup, the oldest of four siblings.

Bill was a graduate of Edison Tech. He was a decorated war veteran, who served in World War II from December 1943 through March 1946 in Europe. He received a Good Conduct Medal, a World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal.  Bill was also a dedicated engineer. He had built a successful career as a manager for Xerox. In his community, Bill was an active member of the Webster Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and loved to bowl with his wife and friends during the winter months when he and Ruth were not traveling South.  He loved to garden and delighted in sharing his gorgeous dahlia collection with friends and family. Bill also loved to paint.  He was an accomplished artist and many of his works decorate the walls in the homes of his family members.

Bill, lovingly known by family and friends as “The Chief”, is survived by the love of his life for 73 years, his wife Ruth Pike, and their two children; son, Thomas W. (wife Victoria) and daughter, Donna S. Hemiup.

Bill is also survived by four grandchildren- Amanda, Jeremy (wife Michelle), John, and Jennifer (husband Brian).  He was often seen attending his grandchildren’s school functions with Ruth by his side and taking road trips to visit them throughout the country.  Bill’s grandchildren made him a great grandfather too- Grant and Brooke Hemiup; Gunnar, Zeke and Brycen Beasley.

Bill had a great sense of humor and a deep loyalty to family.  We know he is watching over us with Jesus in Heaven. He was very loved and will be very missed by all.

If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Webster Baptist Church 59 South Avenue Webster NY 14580.
