A green burial is an eco-friendly option for end of life services that allow the body to return to the earth.
For such arrangements, cremations and formaldehyde-based embalming is prohibited, as is the use of metal or concrete grave-liners, burial vaults or other permanent burial containers.
Caskets, coffins or alternative containers used to enclose and transport the dead are made of biodegradable materials.
Approved funeral providers are overseen by the Green Burial Council.
The Green Burial Council is a non-profit organization that encourages the use of burial as a means of facilitating the restoration, acquisition and stewardship of natural materials.
Home wakes, public visitations, church funerals, and grave side services are options that may be arranged within the time frame green burial allows. The David A. Doser Funeral Home uses approved Natural Choice caskets.
All caskets are made entirely from renewable hardwoods, contain no metal parts and use biodegradable finishes and glues. Caskets are available in prices that range from $1650 - $4550. Our Basic service charge for this service starts at $2850.00.
As the final phase in your green burial service, bodies are laid to rest in a fully certified Natural Burial Ground. Green Burial areas are kept in a forever-wild state. In keeping with Green Burial Council standards, areas are kept free from non-native plant and animal species and free from chemicals or other toxic substances.
The David A. Doser Funeral Home & Cremation Service is approved by the Green Burial Council. Other Funeral Homes may offer a green brurial service, but may not be approved by the GBC.
